Home Safety Checklist

Start up costs include any home maintenance or changes required to meet safety requirements, equipment and materials and  registration costs. 

Note:  All costs are approximations at the time of publication however they are  subject to change without notice and should be considered as a guide only.

 

Home Environment

Costs to consider are:

· safety fencing

· gates on stairs

· fire alarms

· enclosure for pets

· removal of garden hazards

 

 

 

· children's tables/chairs

· storage

· car seat restraints

· cots/prams/mattresses

· books, craft materials, toys for different ages  etc

 

 Registration and Training

· Annual Registration Fee $230.00 approx

· Public Liability Insurance $600.00 approx  
* Platinum  including Family Day Care Australia membership, Legal Plan Family,  personal Accident Insurance for Children
 Can be paid in fortnightly installments

· Induction Training Course $250.00 approx

includes Training Manual, practical placement & other resources

· Senior first Aid $145.00 approx

· Medical Certificate (if requested) $50.00 approx

· Police Check $30.00 approx

note that there will be additional costs for police checks for people residing in the home over the age of 18

 

 

Family Day Care Start Up Payment - (Welfare to Work Participation)

Family Day Care Start Up Payments are intended to assist individuals with Welfare to Work participation requirements. Individuals will be able to contribute to the workforce by becoming a Family Day Care carer. The payment aims to encourage people to consider Family Day Care as a career option and to assist with some of the initial set up costs involved in establishing a Family Day Care business.

The Family Day Care Start Up Payment is only for potential or new careproviders who began providing care after 1st April 2006  that meet the following eligibility criteria:

Priority 1 – Applicant is in one of the Welfare to Work target groups (an income support customer with work participation requirements).

Priority 2 – Applicant intends to operate a Family Day Care service in an identified Welfare to Work area (an identified area with a high number of residents who are an income support customer with work participation requirements). 

Priority 3 – All other eligible applicants.
